I know it may sound odd that I am asking for electrical help, but I am thinking of buying a voltage regulator for the Decathlon instead of a separate receiver battery.

I notice quite a number of people are now using these on IC models as radio / ignitor module power supplies, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.

I have always used one battery. One battery powering the motor with a bec, bog standard. One battery powering a 4.8v regulator for the radio and or the ignition, bog standard. One battery powering a 6v for the radio and another powering 4.8v for the ignition, bog standard.

The ultimate is one battery either LIFE or LIPO at 6v (LIPO 7.4v nominal 8.4v max) powering all, radio, servos and ignition. The problem currently is that 7.4v servos are dear and there is no such thing as a 7.4v ignition system. They all seem to object to anything above 6v
