You will all be please to know that we have managed to get the grass cut. We strapped a few old wrinklies to the front of a mower and with the promise of a kind word we manged to get them to plod all over the field, well nearly. We have taxiways and main take off trimmed together with the pits. A very Kind gentleman with a very large tractor came down and trimmed the rough as well. So we are ship shape and ready to fly. Hurrah! There is a mower in the container which you should all feel free to try out. It is easy to start. Pull the throttle back fully, that chokes it. Give it a pull with the white arm pulled in to the handle. It will start, move the throttle forward to take the choke off. Pull in the black arm to the handle and you are off self propelled! Don't bother with the grass collector! If you put your fingers under the mower you will lose them. Do you need any more instructions?

Oh! and there is a small possibility that the old mower will be making a guest appearance at the field, it might look a bit like chittychittybangbang but if it manages to fell a few leafs of grass who cares. Your club treasurer has been wielding a welding torch so we shall see what transpires. Meanwhile Iain continues to wrestle the big mower back into life. I hear a rumour that Kirky managed to bend their mower round a large wooden post

yes we did hit a post with the mower. this was due to speeding and other lazy people not wanting to cut the grass

I hunted down a farmer willing to look at the field and consider cutting down the long grass. He will flay it. We need to walk through and look for obsticles. Bolders, bikes and fallen trees etc. Perhaps bring a set of boots next weekend. We will flay the long grass to the left of the main field from the road to the style. We should probably plan on getting it done once a year. If we do I am assured it will look better, be drier and be much easier to cut. We might also keep the main mower off the bumpy ground .

Scott's friend who has large tractor and cutter has agreed to come and cut down the rough grass area. I expect we shall have him back twice a year after that. That probably needs agreed at the AGM. He is very reasonably priced but a twice a year cut will probably put a fiver on the annual fee.

Thats great news. I think a trim once a year would be plenty considering how long its been since it was last done.
