The AGM will take place in the Stables Bar Restaurant, 7.00pm for a 7.30 pm start. The Stables Bar and Golf facility is adjacent to the flying field half way up the hill on the right. There is ample parking, tea and coffee will be available on arrival.

Agenda:

• Welcome & Apologies

• Approval of the minutes of the 2010 AGM

• Approval of the accounts and fees

• Re-election of the office bearers

• Planned events for 2012

• Flight safety guidance

• Field developments

• Field Insurance

• AOB

You will find notes covering each agenda item overleaf in the Secretary’s report. Fees for 2012 are £70 per adult and fall due on the evening of the AGM. Members who are not attending should ensure they have renewed before the end of December, SAA cards will be distributed early in the new year.

Secretary’s report 2011

The club web site hosts all of our club documentation, our calendar, all of our club discussions and is intended to be the sole focus of our club communications. The forum and for sale sections are active, so too the photo and video clip galleries. It’s very easy to navigate. Please do try it and have a browse.

Accounts:

Draft accounts are attached. The cost of the new tables lifted the maintenance costs. The fireworks and summer BBQ are the main elements of the event costs but do include the purchase of the three event shelters. Tractor repair costs were modest thanks to Iain’s help. The Treasurer will take questions at the AGM.

Fees will be held at £70 per adult member or family. While members can nominate children we need to determine whether they are flying or non flying. There is little point in incurring unnecessary insurance costs. The joining fee remains at £30. Any fee changes members propose will be reflected in the 2012 AGM notice.

Office Bearers:

All office bearers offer themselves for re-election. One or two members have expressed an interest in joining the committee so there is perhaps an opportunity for change.

Club Events:

Again the weather was not kind to us during the year but nevertheless we had some fun. Successful events include the fireworks display and summer BBQ. Indoor flying is firmly on the agenda, check the web site for details.

Other proposed events are:

• Thu 27th Oct 2011 2011 AGM, Stables Bar, 7.00pm for 7.30pm

• Sat 5Th Nov 2011 Fireworks party, 7.00pm sharp

• Sat 23th June 2012 Summer BBQ and camp out.

• Sat 25th Aug 2012 Late Summer BBQ

• Thu 25th Oct 2012 2011 AGM, Stables Bar, 7.00pm for 7.30pm

We will be seeking members to “own” each of these events, this technique worked well last year. Any alternate event proposals are welcome.

Flight Safety Guidance:

The flight safety guidance has been pretty well respected but one or two issues need attention. Standing out on the runway behind your model is considered bad practice. You cannot hear what is going on at the pilot stance and stall and torque yaw to the left is less likely to be corrected. Please walk halfway back to the pilot stance. Hand launching across the face of the pilot stance is also a concern, please hand launch away from the pilot stance.

The Field:

The main improvement this year has been the provision of new tables. We did some work on the potholes in both the lane and car park. Mowing, weed killing, pruning and general maintenance continued throughout the year. The tractor was out of commission for a while and we had some repair costs.

Insurance:

The cost of the field insurance is now more than £500 members will be asked if they consider this is still a worthwhile cost.
