Ready for flight testing
Wingspan 62". Designer - Tony Nijhuis. Started - Jan 2010. Features and plan alterations- Added split flaps and retracting canopy. E-flite electric retracts. Covering- Wings and forward fuselage are glass and resin. Rear fuselage in linen solartex. Painted with Flair Spektrum paints and finished with Flair satin fuelproofer. Rivets from Mick Reeves. Weathering with humbrol paints and tamiya weathering kit(the most enjoyable and addictive part of the project and therefore probably overdone). Scheme is modeled on Hurricane Mk1 R4194 which saw plenty action and there's loads of info about online. Power - RCV SP60. Initial flight tests will be done with a 2 blade prop but hope to change to a 3 blade. Also has an automatic on board glow and on board telemetry for battery voltage and engine temperature(which has been an issue on ground tests until a special air scoop was fabricated and installed in the cowl) All up weight - 8lb 9oz just slightly over target weight but not bad going considering the added features. All up cost - Too scared to count! See also earlier photo album for build photos.
